Conversation videos

People connect with people, built through conversation. The sharing of experience, insight and knowledge forms the foundation of society, building understanding and acceptance.

Whether you are a SME, not-for-profit organisation, government or community leader, video conversations that explore cutting edge ideas or dive deep into why your work is vital will engage your community in a way that is compelling, authentic and dynamic.

Red Couch Studios, located on the Sunshine Coast, is an ‘in-house’ business video production studio which offers livestream/webcasting and pre-record video production services.

Case Study

Jodi Wolthers CEO; Parent 2 Parent

P2P asked us to record a series of interviews with a host and eight guests, all with varying disabilities. Because of COVID-19 the guests were in lockdown so used their smartphones to connect remotely with the recording. Ethan, the host of the conversations, is a young man with a passion for broadcasting and not many opportunities to express this passion.

We invited Ethan and Robbie, P2P’s community coordinator, to visit the studio a few days before the booking. Sitting in front of multiple studio lights, cameras and monitors, and talking to people he didn’t know was going to be a challenge for Ethan. Our aim was to ensure he was comfortable and knew what to expect from two days of recording.

In the days leading up to the recording, we ran trials with all guests to ensure they were comfortable with using their devices, had suitable lighting and backgrounds, and knew what to expect.

The two days were hard work for Ethan, there were outfit changes and scripts to read. We coached Ethan prior to each conversation, encouraging him to think of questions to ask based on the topic the guest was sharing. The final products captured P2P’s brief, and Ethan and his guests were thrilled to participate in something so unusual in their everyday lives.

What Jodi said

At P2P [Parent to Parent Association Qld Inc.] we were concerned about the isolation that people with a disability experienced during COVID-19 restrictions. We wanted to find a way to connect people so we came up with an idea of employing a person with a disability to check in with other people to see how they're going and what's helping them get through their day.

Robyn, John and Matt from Red Couch Studios worked with us to produce a series called P2P Casual Chats. With the end product of eight stories we were able to use the content in many applications such as Social Media [Facebook and Instagram], content for grant applications, and in our annual report as well as the auditing process. The participants gained confidence and movie star status with their family and friends so the benefits were many.
